INSPIRATION

  • HAVING TRIED MANY DIFFERENT MODES OF TRANSPORTATION OVER THE YEARS, I HAVE BEEN PARTICULARLY INTERESTED IN THE AREA OF LAST -MILE TRANSPORTATION.

  • LIKE ANY OTHER DISRUPTIVE TRANSPORTATION ALTERNATIVE, THE ELECTRIC SCOOTERS HAVE BROUGHT CHAOS ALONG WITH CONVENIENCE ON ALMOST ALL OCCASIONS.

IDEA

What if we use different locks to store our small vehicles like scooters and bikes? What if the locks become a part of the transportation vehicle? Then, since the lock is attached to the scooter, it should prevent the scooter from falling or being stolen, shouldn't it?

SHAPE INSPIRATION BOARD

Currently existing shared scooter shapes were searched, such as Bird scooters. Pictures showcasing U-shaped designs that complement U-locks were also found.

FIRST SKETCH

Various built-in locks were contemplated for attachment to the scooter while sketching, with new ideas being developed in the process. Consideration was given to wire locks, U-shaped locks, and plug-type locks to determine the best method for supporting and securely storing the scooter. After exploring different possibilities, the idea of placing the lock under the handle was found. This location not only offers convenience for locking but also provides excellent support to prevent the scooter from falling over.

Among many locks, a U-shaped solid lock made of metal was chosen to assist the scooter in standing while being locked. The front part of the scooter was designed to accommodate the U-shaped lock.
